Yesterday we reported about the leaked live images of the Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 which revealed the front panel design of the smartphone (here). Now today, the popular leakster XDA developers has revealed that the upcoming Mi MIX 3 will support 960fps slow motion video and also Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun has accidentally released some live images of the device which was soon deleted.
According to the XDA developers the Mi MIX 3 is having a code name Perseus and the latest version of Xiaomi’s MIUI Camera app contained some interesting code which revealed that the smartphone will offer 960fps slow motion video recording. It also revealed that the 960fps slow motion recording offered by the Mi MIX 3 is actually implemented using frame interpolation method which is currently used in Huawei P20 Pro that provide a lower quality video compare to Sony’s XZ Premium or Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9+ and Galaxy Note 9. Mean while Sony and Samsung are able to offer 960fps slow motion video through a DRAM chip that is part of the camera module, which stores a large number of frames.
Now if we look at the live images of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 it showcases the Black and Blue color variant with a rear mounted fingerprint sensor, while recent rumors suggest that the device will feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, so it is speculated that there is a possibility more than one variants. We can also see the dual rear cameras placed at the top left corner and bottom panel seems to be having a a USB Type-C with dual speaker grills on either side. Recently there were also reports that Xiaomi is working on a special arts edition Mi Mix 3 in conjunction with the British Museum. Moreover, the limited edition will have 5G capabilities coupled with 10GB of RAM and will be unveiled in Beijing on October 25th.
