Hong Kong Trade Fairs in Fall 2019 Strengthening bilateral trade between Hong Kong and the UAE

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, 28 August 2019, (AETOSWire): Hong Kong and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have enjoyed robust bilateral trade relations on a range of products and services over the years. Adding to the Hong Kong’s business advantages, Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) gathers the latest market intelligence and form partnerships to develop business for corporations. The HKTDC organizes more than 30 exhibitions in Hong Kong every year. 11 of them are the largest marketplaces of their kind in Asia, of which electronics, jewellery, gifts, watches & clocks and lighting are the world’s largest.

Mr Daniel Lam, Regional Director, Middle East & Africa, HKTDC announced here today that that nine international fairs, which cover watches and clocks, fashion, electronic products, lighting products, green products, optical products as well as wine and spirits, will be held in Hong Kong from September to November. These fairs will serve as ideal platforms for traders and suppliers from the UAE to expand their businesses into new markets. The fairs are as below:

“The HKTDC’s some 30 fairs attracted over 39,000 exhibitors and over 770,000 visitors from all over the world in 2018/2019.” Mr Daniel Lam said. He looked forward to welcoming more corporations in the United Arab Emirates to explore business opportunities and tap into global markets through HKTDC exhibitions. He also highly encouraged all buyers, distributors and retailers from the UAE to come to Hong Kong for sourcing.

The UAE is Hong Kong’s 17th  largest trading partner. Until May 2019, the total trade value between the two places reached USD 4.6 billion. In which, the UAE was Hong Kong’s 14th major export market with a total export value of USD 2.74 billion and 17th largest import source with an import value of USD 1.86 billion.

The HKTDC Hong Kong Watch & Clock Fair and the concurrent Salon de TE will be open during 3-7 September 2019 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC). The Watch & Clock Fair is expecting over 840 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions. In 2018, the fair welcomed more than 21,000 buyers from all over the world, reinforcing Hong Kong’s role as the trade hub of timepieces.

Pageant of Eternity at the Watch & Clock Fair displays premium and high-end collection of exquisite finished watches from around 160 exhibitors. Other exhibiting categories consist of “Complete Watches”, “Clocks”, “Machinery & Equipment”, “OEM Smart Watches”, “Packaging”, “Parts & Components” and “Trade Services”.

“Salon de TE” gathers around 140 prestigious watch brands and designer collections in five themed zones. World Brand Piazza being the spotlight features limited editions and rare timepieces from 13 international renowned brands. Chic & Trendy features stylish and trendy labels, including a’-tek (Germany), CEMEO (Hong Kong), DAUMIER (Switzerland), Van Gogh (the Netherland), Florian (Hong Kong) and Le Jour (Europe). CENTRESTAGE will take place from 4-7 September at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. The show becomes talk of the town attracting exceptional fashion brands, designers, buyers, media and fashionistas. The event will showcase about 240 local and overseas brands. Key brands from Hong Kong include Artistic Palace, 112 mountainyam, ARTO., DEMO., DORISKATH, FAKE FAN, HARRISON WONG, KENAXLEUNG, METHODOLOGY, TAK L. and YDMH. Overseas brands include AXOXYXOXS (Macau), Banana Orange (Mainland China), Brian Chen Bridal (Taiwan), CHENG PAI CHENG (Taiwan), Daily Mirror (Korea), DANBOKUN NO NIKKI (Japan), MIESU (India), NATURINO (Italy), SINA NOORI (France) and more.

About 20 fashion shows will be held during CENTRESTAGE. On the first evening (4 Sept), the large-scale opening gala fashion show, CENTRESTAGE ELITES, will spotlight two top fashion designers for the first time to present their pre-spring 2020 collections on global runway, including Anais Mak from Hong Kong’s brand ANAÏS JOURDEN and Joseph Altuzarra from American brand ALTUZARRA. The renowned Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) 2019 will be held on 7 September as the finale of CENTRESTAGE. Japanese fashion designer, Mihara Yasuhiro, is the VIP judge to share his insights and ideas with the finalists.

A series of insightful seminars and panels such as the Meet the Visionaries Series and Trend Talk Series will be hosted by fashion design masters and industry experts, with a focus on upcoming fashion trends. Fashion Summit (HK) 2019, a large-scale summit in Asia on fashion sustainability, will be held concurrently. Under the theme “Achieving the Goals”, the two-day conference will gather industry experts to discuss hot industry topics.

The final day of CENTRESTAGE (7 September), titled “OPENSTAGE”, will open to public visitors aged 12 and above free of charge. To spread the fashion buzz to the wider community, the Hong Kong in Fashion citywide campaign will be held from August to September in collaboration with over 90 partners, including fashion boutiques, fashion design institutes, restaurants and hotels. More than 90 events will be held across the city for public participation, including workshops, competitions, fashion parades and exhibitions.

The 39th HKTDC Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) and the 23rd electronicAsia will be held concurrently at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from 13-16 October 2019. The two fairs will gather more than 4,300 exhibitors from across the globe, representing the world’s largest electronics marketplace to showcase a wide variety of intelligent products, innovative start-up ideas and electronic components. In 2018, the twin fairs attracted a total of close to 87,000 buyers from 139 countries and regions.

Hong Kong Electronics Fair (Autumn Edition) is organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), while electronicAsia is jointly organized by the HKTDC and MMI Asia Pte Ltd.

Tech Hall, one of the highlights of the Electronics Fair, will return to showcase tech-savvy products in six thematic zones: 3D Printing, Robotics & Unmanned Tech, Smart Tech, Virtual Reality, Startup and the newly launched AI & Voice Recognition. The Startup zone will feature international start-ups to present their innovations ranging from Apps, smart home products, wearable electronics, Internet of Things (IoT), heath electronics and more. A series of events will be arranged to provide an ideal platform for start-ups to present ideas, which include pitching, “Startup, Smart Launch”, sharing, mentoring and investment matchmaking sessions.

The 21st Hong Kong International Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will be staged from 27 to 30 October 2019 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center. The Hong Kong International Outdoor and Tech Light Expo will also see its fourth edition from 29 October to 1 November 2019 at the AsiaWorld-Expo. The two lighting events expect close to 3,100 exhibitors from around the world. Last year, over 44,630 global buyers attended Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) and over 13,600 global buyers attended the Outdoor & Tech Light Expo.  The two fairs together form the world’s largest lighting marketplace with enormous business opportunities.

The famed Hall of Aurora at the Lighting Fair (Autumn Edition) will bring top-notch branded collections of lighting accessories and applications under one roof. The Smart Lighting & Solutions Zone will leverage the high interest in home automation to display fixtures, software and management systems. The popular LED Lighting zone will display a wide array of energy-efficient lighting for commercial uses, whereas the Residential Lighting zone will gather functional and decorative domestic lighting products.

Eco Expo Asia – International Trade Fair on Environmental Protection

The 14th edition of the show, to be held at the AsiaWorld-Expo from 30 October to 2 November 2019, is jointly organized by HKTDC and Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd, and co-organized by the Environment Bureau of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The 2018 edition of the show saw about 15,000 visitors attend from over 106 countries and regions, while the fair gathered 338 exhibitors from 19 countries and regions, including 20 startups and group participations.

The Environment Bureau rolled out its Feed-in Tariff (FiT) scheme last October to support the generation of renewable energy in 2019 in order to tackle Hong Kong’s waste generation and improve its reduction and management. To echo with this drive for better waste management, Eco Expo Asia has adopted a new show theme ‒ “Less Carbon, Less Waste • Green Innovation”. By aligning the fair in this way, the organizers hope to increase awareness of current pressing environmental issues and also to facilitate the exchange of technology and solutions from around the world. Highlighted product categories include Green Buildings and Energy Efficiency, Green Transportation, Waste Management and Recycling.

A strong line-up of pavilions, including Canada, Europe, Switzerland and Japan will participate this year, providing a comprehensive display of the latest green technologies, solutions and products from around the world.

The Startup Zone returns in 2019 as one of the highlights of Eco Expo Asia. Its aim is to encourage green startups to explore more business opportunities and connect with investors at the show.

The 27th edition of the Hong Kong International Optical Fair gathers over 810 exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions to showcase the latest design trends and eyewear products, providing a one-stop marketing and sourcing platform for the industry.

The Brand Name Gallery, one of the highlights of the fair, features around 230 international renowned brands, including Bestwork, Big Horn, bTd, Etnia Barcelona, EYEVAN, HACHill, JAPONISM, Lafont, Laura Ashley, LIINTA, Markus-t, MATSUDA, MINIMA, Oh My Glasses TOKYO, Paul Hueman, Paul Frank, STEPPER, Pugnale, Superdry, and William Morris.

HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair

The HKTDC Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair will open during 7-9 November 2019 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center (HKCEC). The Fair hosted a total of 1,075 exhibitors from 33 countries and regions as well as nearly 19,000 buyers from 73 countries and regions in 2018, serving as the ideal promotion and sourcing platform. The HKTDC’s annual Wine and Spirits Fair is more than a wine fair. This event attracts trade buyers, wineries, importers & distributors, sommeliers, hoteliers and restaurants, wholesalers etc. all under one roof. It showcases wines from around the world, champagne and spirits which included a huge range of alcoholic beverages such as whisky, sake, liquor, as well as beer etc.

The Asia Wine Academy, a wine mastery program with intensive courses will also be held during the Hong Kong International Wine & Spirits Fair where both wine professionals and the public can learn from notable Masters of Wine.

An array of events will be held during the Fair, including grand tastings, master classes, wine tastings, cocktail and whisky demonstrations and seminars. Over 70 events were staged in 2018. The Wine Industry Conference will also be held as an important annual event featuring key industry players talking about the latest market opportunities; On the third day of the fair, the event will open to the public who are welcome to join the events such as grand tastings and master classes.
