Airtel TV Mobile App Renamed as Airtel Xstream In-Line With Website

Highlights
  • Airtel has updated the name and logo of its mobile app
  • The app has been renamed on both Android, iOS platforms

Bharti Airtel has renamed its Airtel TV mobile app as Airtel Xstream, according to the changelog spotted on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The updated version of the content app from Bharti Airtel is already up for download on both Android, iOS platforms. Besides the name change, there are not many changes present inside the app, though. For the unaware, Airtel already has a website which is named as airtelxstream.in and the mobile app has been renamed in-line with the company’s website. Airtel Xstream offers both Live TV and content from OTT apps like ALT Balaji, ZEE5, HOOQ and so on. Airtel TV app is the go-to solution for Bharti Airtel customers to watch content on their mobile phone. Although Airtel is trying to provide similar content service to desktop users via its web version of Airtel Xstream, the content offerings from the company are pretty limited for now.

Airtel TV is Now Airtel Xstream, But No Major Features Added

As mentioned above, except for the name change, it’s entirely the same mobile application. Airtel Xstream app for Android and iOS provides both Live TV and content from third-party OTT services like HOOQ, ZEE5, HOOQ, SonyLIV and so on. Bharti Airtel says the company is providing more than 10,000 movies, TV Shows, over 350 Live TV channels and more with Airtel Xstream. The Airtel Xstream web version right now is providing very limited Live TV channels of around 100 and the movie catalogue is also limited to HOOQ for now.

In the previous update, Airtel Xstream (Airtel TV) app for Android and iOS received Dark Mode and design overhaul which enhanced the overall user experience. The logo has also been update with the name change.

Unlike Reliance Jio which has separate apps for both Live TV and content from OTT services, Bharti Airtel just has Airtel Xstream which offers both the services to the customers. Reliance JioTV app from the Mukesh Ambani-owned telco provides close to 650 Live TV channels, whereas the JioCinema app offers content from OTT services. Both Airtel and Jio have standalone music apps- Wynk Music and JioSaavn.
