Highlights
- Airtel has ranked 4th on the list with ACT Fibernet just below it
- Reliance Jio showed a marginal improvement of 0.03 Mbps compared to last month
Even before the service has properly reached the corners of India and the subscribers’ homes, Reliance Jio GigaFiber is making a lot of buzz in the industry. Currently, the service is mostly limited to the Tier I cities and a handful of Tier II cities. However, in these initial days, the subscribers will be able to gauge the quality of service which they will be able to expect from Reliance Jio and its FTTH (Fibre to the Home) service in the coming days. There has already been news about the ultra-high speeds which Reliance Jio GigaFiber is providing to its customers, and now it seems that the claim has been supported by the Netflix ISP Speed Index report of February 2019. The last time we covered these results was back in October 2018. Here are the current ranks and the details of the Netflix ISP Speed Index report for the previous month.

Reliance Jio Tops the Chart Again Consecutively
On the top rank, as you would expect, Reliance Jio GigaFiber has again taken the spot with its speed of 3.61 Mbps. The service outranks every other player in the list and has been shown to improve on the previous speed of 3.58 Mbps. On the second rank, we have 7 Star Digital which is providing a speed of 3.43 Mbps. Next up in the list, we get to see Spectranet and Airtel with 3.34 Mbps and 3.29 Mbps of speed. Rest of the major players come further below in this chart with ACT Fibernet following right after Airtel with 3.03 Mbps. Hathway, Alliance Broadband, MTNL and BSNL have been put on the 7th, 11th, 13th and 14th spot respectively owing to their lesser speeds.
Airtel Loses Top Ranks to Other ISPs
Netflix ISP Speed Index report has also published a comparison chart for the speeds of all the ISPs which gives us more data to compare them. What’s worth noting that ever since its launch in September 2018, Reliance Jio GigaFiber has maintained its top position in the Netflix ISP Speed Index chart with speeds consistently above 3.41 Mbps. While all the other companies have shown a slight upwards trend with improving speeds month-on-month, Alliance Broadband which is a fairly new player hasn’t seen any considerable improvement in speed.
Looking at the data since last year, it is pretty apparent that Reliance Jio has dominated the Netflix ISP Speed Index since its launch, as before Spectranet or Spectra used to be the top scorer in the list. However, since the last year, Airtel has also lost its third spot to Spectranet while 7 Star Digital has consistently ranked second.
